Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Siva K Hanson is a Canadian painter whose intuitive landscapes explore healing, resilience, and connection. Working primarily from her own photography taken during explorations across Canada, she transforms the natural world into meditations on emotion, memory, and balance.

Painting became her refuge after years marked by trauma, addiction, and recovery. Through this process, she found a quiet strength and a renewed sense of purpose. Her work reflects the stillness and energy of the natural world—trees, rivers, skies—as mirrors of the inner landscapes we all navigate.

Today, she continues to create from her home studio in Edmonton, where she lives with her family. Her art offers a message of empathy and endurance—for anyone who has faced darkness and kept moving toward the light.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work begins in silence. When I paint, I enter an intuitive flow—what feels like a blank void where thought gives way to instinct. Each composition emerges from a sense of vibration, balance, and contrast between shape and colour.

I often draw from the landscapes I photograph while exploring Canada’s vast beauty. Nature speaks to me in patterns and rhythms: the bend of a river, the movement of wind through trees, the weight of light on water. These moments become metaphors for resilience and transformation.

Painting has been my path back to peace. It allows me to process trauma, mental illness, and recovery—not through words, but through presence. Each brushstroke is both release and renewal. My work is a quiet invitation to feel, to breathe, and to remember that healing, like nature, is ongoing and alive.
