ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Art has been a constant in Kryssa Kennedy’s life, grounding her through seasons of change. She earned her Bachelor of Education with a major in Art and a minor in Spanish before becoming both a teacher and a mother by the age of 26. For years, she carried the sense of always catching up—until learning that her experiences with ADHD, Autism, and CPTSD had profoundly shaped her path.

After burning out during the pandemic, creativity became her way back to herself. Through painting and community connection, Kryssa rediscovered both her voice and her purpose.

Her work blends contemporary and abstract elements while drawing inspiration from nature, myth, emotion, and memory. Through layered colour, texture, and line, she explores the intersections of healing and transformation. Each piece becomes a visual map of feeling, expression and connection.

ARTIST STATEMENT

For years, I moved through life fulfilling roles in my life such as teacher, partner, and mother, while feeling disconnected from my own rhythm and self. After years of burnout and self-discovery, I began creating again, not for perfection or purpose, but for healing.

I work in multiple media, blending contemporary and abstract approaches with elements of illustration. Texture, colour, and line become intuitive languages for expressing energy, stillness, and transformation.

Nature, mythology, and the human form often appear in my work as symbols of healing and connection. My process is fluid and emotional, with bursts of hyperfocus and intense action. Creating has become my way of finding balance and belonging, a reminder that art is not only something we make, but something that makes us whole.
